Bulverde is located 26 miles north and along US highway 281 from downtown San Antonio. It’s situated in Comal County and is a great place to live and enjoy the Texas Hill Country. As a matter of fact, its local nick-name is “The Front Porch of the Texas Hill Country” because you can sit and take in the beautiful bucolic views. It was settled in 1850 and is a small quiet community. For many years, they did not even have a post office, but now they have one of the smallest post offices housed in a lovely cabin. Every Wednesday, you can find a Farmers' Market featuring eggs, fruits and vegetables locally grown located in front of the Bulverde Post Office. Bulverde is an area that is growing and has great appeal because of its proximity to the city. Natural Bridge Caverns, Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, Guadalupe River State Park and Bracken Cave are all nearby. Bulverde has its own version of Broadway in the little dinner theater called 'The Stage' which features local talent and local cuisine.
The median home price is up 7.9% from last year to $389,000 but single-family homes range from the low $200,000s to millions. There has been a recent influx of people moving to Bulverde and most enjoy newly built homes. Many developments are gated. Berry Oaks Comal, Bulverde Estates, Bulverde Hills, Comal Trace, Glenwood, Johnson Ranch, Oak Village North and Rim Rock Ranch are just some of the popular neighborhoods worth exploring. Schools are ranked high and a part of the Comal County Independent School District.
